A parent suspecting a cognitive problem with their child should consult a psychiatrist who can make the diagnosis. There is no known cure for this disorder although some children have reportedly recovered fully. The management of the condition is to improve functional independence of the affected individual and minimize family distress. But their is no specific treatment regime and interventions are based on the child and the family’s needs.
