Let’s talk about L.I.F.E [Child Services]

I Am an Autism expert…..Well self taught sympathizer, empathizer, wunderer of all things….expert. After 3 1/2 years of living with it, I am Self taught and self motivated by it, I did almost all my own research, and performed all my own experiments and observations. It’s like the old days when Medical Doctors would just pick a person to mentor, show them how to diagnose, cut and sew and then, Viola! They became Doctors. It’s like that with Autism. In a World filled with information, stuffed with ideas, brimming with knowledge and innovation. The only way to learn is still with hands on experience. NO one has simplified the Care and Treatment of Autism. It’s not an illness that can be helped simply by word of mouth. We need to collaborate! Standardize. Compile Data and Share in order to really help! I urge people out there to push for a more uniform system that enables everyone to get the same information once their child is diagnosed with Autism. We are moving closer however, with amazing services such as Autism Genetic Resource Exchange However, a mystery that still has me dumbfounded is State Services. How is there such drastic differences in services from state to state. I can only hope that eventually from Main to California our country can offer that same services to every child no matter where they live.

We are like most families that go through the rigorous process of finding services, get qualified and then find providers. One might become an expert at this game as well. I can tell you I have struggled. To find, get and gain access to all of the above. It’s not easy! We recently had a great speech therapist move from one company to another. We had searched long and hard for a speech therapist that is right for our child, so we decided. She moves WE MOVE! Dreadfully, I went for a tour of this facility and it was amazing! For the first time ever I had found a place where we could take our son for Speech, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. Plus they have a school that uses Habilitation and respite hours while your child as well. ALL of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They offer so many forms of treatment rooms and functional kid friendly areas that for the first time, I felt like someone got it. They knew what an Autistic child loves, how to get them motivated and stimulated. Therapy has NEVER been so easy! They call this magical placeLauren’s Institute for EducationWe are glad we found the L.I.F.E. Center and that the process of getting an Autistic child serviced and improving can be so centralized. The therapists know and work with each other to create ideas and goals to help the kids. Autistic Games..as we like to call them, are running wild there. They have a great transition room where kids free play in between therapies for a break. After the break is where we stand in amazement. From one Autistic parent to another I am sure you can understand the fear of getting ready to leave one task for another. Impending melt down! Not at L.I.F.E…they understand the difficulties in transition and strive to make it seamless. That is why we love it, they get it! We have been impressed with the whole idea! What a great facility with a great purpose. Hats off to the people who founded this institution! It just goes to show what a little motivation can bring to so many people in need. I hope that more people around the country can see this center and imitate in hoipes that other families will learn from L.I.F.E Centers ability to provide a good resource to families in need.
