What Causes Autism and A Crazy New Statistic

The cause of Autism has been a big question in the Autism world. Autism today is mostly about treating the symptoms and not as much about curing the cause. The reasoning is obvious. We know way way way more about the symptoms than the cause. However Curemark, LLC is launching their 3rd phase of clinical trials for its autism treatment. 170 children across the country will be participating in these studies. Briefly, the study is called CM-AT and is based on a study that showed enzyme deficiencies in autistic children, resulting in the inability to digest protein. As most people know protein is an essential foundational piece to proper digestion leading to proper brain function.

Dr. Joan Fallon CEO and founder of Curemark llc say’s. “We’re hopeful that CM-AT will be one of the first therapies to address the underlying physiology of autism, rather than just treat its symptoms.”

This is fantastic and hopeful news for the autism community. It has long been speculated that the digestion and resulting chemical balances have been the cause of autism, it has yet to be proven scientifically. Hopefully this will be something that can narrow down a path for a cure.

A new study released in early October by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) showed that the number of children affected by autism is much higher than originally thought. According to the study, autism affects 1 in 91 children and about 1 in 58 boys, totaling an estimated 673,000 or approximately 1% of all children in the U.S.

It is obvious there is an urgency here and I hope more companies step us to help find a cure for this.
